من الفكرة المروِّعة أن يوجد من يملكنا، ويخلقنا، ويراقبنا في يقظتنا ونومنا، ويعلم أفكارنا، ويستطيع أن يُديننا بجريمة الفكر، بجريمة الفكر وحدها، لما نفكر فيه، ويحاكمنا وwe نائمون على ما قد يمرّ بأحلامنا، ويخلق فينا المرض، كما يبدو أننا مرضى، ثم يأمرنا، تحت طائلة العذاب الأبدي، أن نُشفى! والمطالبة بهذا، والرغبة في أن يكون هذا حقيقة، هي رغبة في أن نعيش عبيدًا أذلاء.
