في التقاليد الصوفية لمختلف الأديان نجد وحدةً روحية لافتة. فمهما كان الدين الذي يعتنقه المرء، فهم أقرباء في الروح. وبينما تشدّنا الأديان في صورها التاريخية إلى جماعات محدودة، وتعرقل نشوء الولاء للمجتمع العالمي، فإن الصوفيين قد دعوا منذ القدم إلى أخوّة الإنسانية في انسجام مع روح من سبقوهم من الصوفيين.
