اتُّخذت تدابير كثيرة لتوجيه النظام التعليمي نحو مزيد من السيطرة والتلقين والتدريب المهني، وفرض الديون التي تحبس الطلاب والشباب في حياة من الامتثال... وهذا عكس ما تمخّض عنه تقليديًا عصرُ التنوير تمامًا. وثمة صراع دائم بين هذين الاتجاهين. في الكليات والمدارس، هل نُدرّب الطلاب على اجتياز الاختبارات، أم على البحث الخلّاق؟
