تعليقُ الحكم الأخلاقي ليس لا أخلاقية الرواية، بل هو أخلاقيتها. هي الأخلاقية التي تقف في وجه العادة البشرية الراسخة في الحكم الفوري المتواصل على الجميع، والحكم قبل الفهم وبغيابه. ومن منظور حكمة الرواية، فإن هذه الرغبة المحمومة في الحكم أعظم الحماقات مقتًا، وأخبث الشرور.
