أؤمن بأنّ المدرسة مؤسسةٌ اجتماعيةٌ في المقام الأول. فالتعليم عملية اجتماعية، والمدرسة ليست سوى ذلك الشكل من الحياة الجماعية الذي تتركّز فيه كلُّ العوامل الأكثر فعاليةً في جعل الطفل يشارك في الموروث المشترك للجنس البشري، ويستخدم قدراته الخاصة لغايات اجتماعية. وأؤمن بأنّ التعليم، لذلك، عمليةُ حياةٍ لا إعدادٌ لحياةٍ مقبلة.
