التضخم ليس روبن هود يأخذ من الأغنياء ليعطي الفقراء. بل هو أقسى ما يكون على من هم أعجز الناس عن حماية أنفسهم. يضرب بشدة أولئك الملايين من مواطنينا الذين لا ترتفع دخولهم بسرعة مع ارتفاع كلفة المعيشة. فحين تتصاعد الأسعار، يرى المتقاعد والأرملة أمنهما يتهاوى، ويرى المقتصد مدخراته تذوب، ويرى موظف المكتب والواعظ والمعلم مستوى معيشتهم يُجرّ نحو الأسفل.
