في أعمال العباقرة الكبار تظهر بدايات متواضعة في مكانٍ ما، أما عند شكسبير فلا يمكن تتبّع أدنى أثرٍ لها... لا يعنيني من كتب أعمال شكسبير... ولكني بالكاد أتصوّر أنه كان ذلك الفتى من ستراتفورد. فمن كتبها كانت له نظرةٌ أرستقراطية.
