عند التمييز بين تعاليم الإسلام والأعراف الاجتماعية المحظورة، علينا أن نتذكّر أن الإسلام يحرّم الظلم: الظلم للناس، وللأمم، وللنساء. وهو يأبى التمييز بين بني البشر على أساس العِرق أو اللون أو الجنس، ويجعل التقوى المعيارَ الوحيد للحكم على الإنسان.
