[يتحدث عن تجربته في معسكر اعتقال:] كما قلنا من قبل، فإن أي محاولة لاستعادة القوة الداخلية للإنسان في المعسكر كان عليها أولاً أن تنجح في أن تُريه هدفاً مستقبلياً... ويلٌ لمن لم يرَ في حياته معنى ولا غاية ولا هدفاً، فلا جدوى عنده من المواصلة. وسرعان ما كان يهلك.
