لقد أخفقت فكرةُ السيادة الفردية وحقُّ حرية التعبير، حين تُتجاوز حدودهما، ولم تنجحا. فقد جعلا من الصعب الحفاظ على تماسك المجتمع الأمريكي. وترى آسيا أن هذا لا يُفلح. ففي أمريكا نفسها جريمةٌ وعنفٌ منتشران، والمسنّون يشعرون بالنسيان، والأسر تتفكك. ووسائل الإعلام تنال من نزاهة قادتكم وشخصياتهم دون عقاب، وتُسقط كل من في السلطة، وتُلقي اللوم على كل أحد عدا نفسها.
