والدن هو الكتاب الوحيد الذي أملكه، مع أنّ على رفوفي كتبًا أخرى لم أتعلّق بها بعد. أظنّ أنّ كلّ إنسان يقرأ كتابًا واحدًا في حياته، وهذا هو كتابي. لعلّه ليس أفضل ما قرأتُ، لكنه الأقرب إليّ والأنفع لي، وأحمله معي كما يحمل المرء منديله، للتخفيف عند لحظات الزكام أو اليأس.
