في عصر الترابط المتبادل، تُعدّ المواطنة العالمية، القائمة على الثقة والإحساس بالمسؤولية المشتركة، ركيزةً حاسمةً للتقدم. وفي وقتٍ يُحرم فيه أكثر من مليار إنسان من أدنى متطلبات الكرامة الإنسانية، لا يجوز أن يُنظر إلى قطاع الأعمال على أنه جزء من المشكلة. بل عليه أن يعمل مع الحكومات وسائر الفاعلين في المجتمع لتعبئة العلم والتكنولوجيا والمعرفة العالمية، لمواجهة الأزمات المتشابكة من جوع ومرض وتدهور بيئي ونزاع، التي تعيق تقدم العالم النامي.
