العلمُ غيرُ يقيني. النظريات قابلة للمراجعة، والملاحظات تحتمل تفسيراتٍ شتّى، والعلماء يختلفون فيما بينهم. وهذا مُحبِطٌ لمن لم يتدرّبوا على المنهج العلمي، فيلجؤون بدلاً من ذلك إلى اليقين الجامد في الكتاب المقدّس. ففي رأيٍ لا يقبل أيّ انحراف، ويُعفيك من عناء التفكير المؤلم، شيءٌ من الراحة.
