الميزة المميزة للإنسان أن الرابطة التي يقبلها ليست مادية بل أخلاقية، أي اجتماعية. فهو لا يخضع لبيئة مادية تُفرض عليه بقسوة، بل لضمير أعلى من ضميره، ويشعر بعلوّه. ولأن الجزء الأعظم والأرقى من وجوده يتجاوز الجسد، فإنه يفلت من نير الجسد، لكنه يخضع لنير المجتمع.
