المجتمع ليس مجرّد مجموع أفراد. فالمنظومة التي يُكوّنها ارتباطهم حقيقةٌ مستقلة لها خصائصها... الجماعة تفكّر وتشعر وتتصرف على نحوٍ يختلف تماماً عمّا يفعله أعضاؤها لو كانوا منعزلين. فإن بدأنا بالفرد، لن نفهم شيئاً مما يجري في الجماعة.
