لم يمنح الدفعةَ الحاسمة لظهور نظرية ستالين عن الاشتراكية القومية سوى هزيمة البروليتاريا في ألمانيا عام 1923؛ فانحدار منحنى الثورة هو ما أفضى إلى الستالينية، لا نظرية الثورة الدائمة التي صغتُها أنا أولاً عام 1905. وهذه النظرية لا ترتبط بتقويم محدد لأحداث الثورة، إنما تكشف الترابط العالمي لمسار الثورة.
