يجعلني التقدّم السريع للعلوم آسفًا أحيانًا لأنني وُلدتُ مبكرًا جدًّا. تخيّلوا السلطة التي سيمتلكها الإنسان على المادة بعد بضع مئات من السنين. قد نتعلّم كيف نزيل الجاذبية عن الكتل الكبيرة، فنطفو بها عبر مسافات بعيدة. ستتضاعف الزراعة إنتاجها بجهد أقل. وستُشفى كل الأمراض حتمًا... حتى الشيخوخة. ليت العلوم الأخلاقية تتحسّن هي الأخرى! ربما يكفّ البشر حينئذ عن أن يكونوا ذئابًا لبعضهم بعضًا، ويتعلّم الإنسان أن يكون إنسانًا.
