الحسود يهزل بما يسمن به جاره. الحسد ابنة الكبر، وأمّ القتل والانتقام، ومبدأ الفتنة الخفية، والمعذِّب الدائم للفضيلة. الحسد وحلٌ نجس في النفس، سمٌّ وزئبق يأكل اللحم ويجفف نخاع العظام.
