إنّ التأرجح بين تمارين التدريب الآلي التي تسعى إلى الكفاءة في الفعل الظاهر دون استخدام للعقل، وتراكم معرفةٍ يُفترض أنها غاية في ذاتها، يعني أنّ التعليم يقبل الأوضاع الاجتماعية الراهنة على أنها نهائية، ويتحمّل بذلك مسؤولية إدامتها. إنّ إعادة تنظيم التعليم بحيث يتمّ التعلّم في سياق المضيّ بأنشطة هادفة بعقلانية عمل بطيء، ولا يمكن إنجازه إلا خطوةً خطوة.
