الشعر السياسي أعمق عاطفةً من أيّ شعرٍ آخر، على الأقل بقدر شعر الحب، ولا يُفرض فرضًا، لأنه حينئذٍ يبتذل ويصبح مرفوضًا. ولا بدّ للمرء أولًا من أن يُمحِّص الشعر كلّه ليصير شاعرًا سياسيًا.
