حين أتابع نقاشات الكونغرس حول الرعاية الصحية والمناخ والطاقة، يصعب ألا أخلص إلى هذا: ليس ثمة أسوأ من الاستبداد الحزبي الواحد إلا الديمقراطية الحزبية الواحدة، وهذا ما لدينا في أمريكا اليوم. والاستبداد الحزبي الواحد له بلا شك مساوئه، لكنه حين يقوده قومٌ مستنيرون إلى حدّ معقول، كما هي الصين اليوم، قد تكون له مزايا عظيمة.
