لا يستطيع المعلّم أن يعلّم حقًّا ما لم يكن هو نفسه لا يزال يتعلّم. ولا يستطيع المصباح أن يُشعل مصباحًا آخر ما لم يواصل احتراق لهبه. أما المعلّم الذي بلغ آخر ما في علمه، ولم يعد بينه وبين معرفته صلةٌ حيّة، بل يكتفي بترديد دروسه على طلابه، فإنه لا يستطيع إلا أن يُثقل عقولهم، ولا يستطيع أن يوقظها.
