يقرأ الطرفان الكتاب المقدس نفسه، ويصليان إلى الإله نفسه، ويستنجد كلٌّ منهما بعونه على الآخر. وقد يبدو غريباً أن يجرؤ أناس على طلب عون الإله العادل ليستخرجوا خبزهم من عرق جباه غيرهم، لكن فلنحذر من أن نُدان كي لا نُدان. لا يمكن أن تُستجاب دعوات الطرفين، ولم تُستجب دعوة أيٍّ منهما استجابةً تامة.
