لم أستطع أن أكتشف سبب تلك الخواص للجاذبية من الظواهر، ولا أضع فروضًا؛ فكلّ ما لا يُستنبط من الظواهر يُسمّى فرضًا، والفروض، سواء أكانت ميتافيزيقية أم فيزيائية، سواء أكانت ذات خواص خفية أم ميكانيكية، لا مكان لها في الفلسفة التجريبية.
