الاعتراضات الوحيدة التي خطرت لي هي: أولًا، أنك حمّلت نفسك صعوبةً لا داعي لها بتبنّيك مبدأ «الطبيعة لا تقفز» بهذا القدر من التسليم المطلق... وثانيًا، ليس واضحًا لي لماذا يحدث التنوّع أصلًا، إذا كانت الظروف الفيزيائية المستمرة ذات أهمية ضئيلة كما تفترض. غير أنني يجب أن أقرأ الكتاب مرتين أو ثلاثًا قبل أن أجرؤ على البدء في تتبّع الثغرات.
