أما ملكات العقل، فإلى جانب الفنون القائمة على الألفاظ، وخاصةً تلك المهارة في الاستدلال بقواعد عامة لا تُخطئ، والمسماة علمًا، وهي مهارة لا يملكها إلا القليلون وفي أمورٍ قليلة، إذ ليست ملكةً فطرية تولد معنا، ولا تُكتسب (كالحكمة) ما دمنا منشغلين بشيءٍ آخر.
