الإنسان لا يكون كائناً أخلاقياً إلا لأنه يعيش في مجتمع، إذ إنّ الأخلاق تقوم على التضامن مع الجماعة، وتتبدّل بتبدّل هذا التضامن. فلو زال الحياة الاجتماعية كلها لزالت الحياة الأخلاقية معها في الوقت نفسه، إذ لن يبقى لها ما تتعلّق به.
