من الناحية السياسية، تُصرّ القومية القبلية [الوطنية] دائمًا على أنّ شعبها محاطٌ بـ«عالمٍ من الأعداء»، وأنه «واحدٌ في مواجهة الجميع»، وأنّ ثمة فرقًا جوهريًا بين هذا الشعب وكل الشعوب الأخرى. وهي تزعم أنّ شعبها فريدٌ، متفرّدٌ، غير قابل للتوافق مع غيره، وتنكر نظريًا إمكانية وجود إنسانية مشتركة، قبل أن تُستخدم تلك النظرية لتدمير إنسانية الإنسان.
