كلّ مدفعٍ يُصنع، وكلّ سفينةٍ حربية تُنزل إلى الماء، وكلّ صاروخٍ يُطلق، يعني في المحصلة سرقةً من الجائعين الذين لا يُطعَمون، ومن العراة الذين لا يُكسَون. إنّ هذا العالم المسلّح لا ينفق المال وحده، بل ينفق عرق عمّاله، وعبقرية علمائه، وآمال أطفاله. وليس هذا أسلوب حياةٍ بالمعنى الحقيقي. وتحت غيوم الحرب، تُعلَّق الإنسانية على صليبٍ من حديد.
