أتوجس دائمًا من قضية المياه لأنني أسمع عنها منذ ثلاثين عامًا، لكن ذات عام سيصبح الأمر حقيقة. ومع تزايد السكان، قد تكون اليمن أول دولة في العالم، أو صنعاء أول مدينة كبرى فيه، تنفد مياهها، وذلك بحسب مهندسين هيدرولوجيين يمنيين وتقارير الأمم المتحدة. وعاجلًا أم آجلًا، سيستهلك كل هؤلاء البشر، الذين سيبلغون بين سبعة وتسعة مليارات، ويريدون جميعًا أن يعيشوا كما يعيش الأمريكيون، من المياه ما يكفي لتصطدم بعض المجتمعات بجدار مسدود، ما لم تعتمد ممارسات بيئية أكثر استدامة.
