كلما أدرك الرأي العام العالمي، وفي المقام الأول رأي الجماهير العاملة، تناقضات التطور الاشتراكي وصعوباته في بلد منعزل، وكلما أدرك قيمة ما تحقق، كان ذلك أفضل. وكلما قلّ خلطه بين المبادئ الأساسية للاشتراكية وتعرجات البيروقراطية السوفيتية وأخطائها، قلّ الخطر أن يتراجع، بسبب الكشف الحتمي عن هذه الأخطاء وعواقبها، لا سلطة الفئة الحاكمة الراهنة وحدها، بل سلطة دولة العمال نفسها.
