إذا نظرتَ إلى المناهج الدراسية في معظم الجامعات والمدارس في هذا البلد [الولايات المتحدة]، مع الأخذ في الاعتبار تاريخنا الطويل من الاحتكاك بالعالم الإسلامي، فستجد فيها القليل جداً مما يمكن الإمساك به وهو مفيد حقاً عن الإسلام. وإذا نظرتَ إلى الإعلام الشعبي، فسترى أن الصورة النمطية التي بدأت مع رودولف فالنتينو في فيلم «الشيخ» ما زالت باقية، وقد تطورت لتصبح الشرير العابر للحدود في التلفزيون والسينما والثقافة عموماً.
