تُعدّ القدرات الأخلاقية عادةً أعلى قيمةً من القدرات الفكرية، وذلك بحق. غير أنّ علينا أن نتذكّر دائمًا أنّ نشاط العقل في استحضار الانطباعات الماضية بوضوح هو أحد الأسس الجوهرية، وإن كانت ثانوية، للضمير. وهذه الحقيقة تقدّم أقوى حجة لتربية القدرات الفكرية لدى كل إنسان وتنشيطها بكل السبل الممكنة.
