أكتب لنفسي، وربما لنصف دزينة من الأصدقاء. وهذا يكفيني. وقد يُحسّن ذلك من جودة كتابتي. أما لو كنت أكتب لآلاف الناس، لكتبت ما قد يُرضيهم. ولأنني لا أعرف عنهم شيئًا، وربما كنت أرى فيهم رأيًا متدنّيًا، فلا أظن ذلك سيفيد عملي في شيء.
