ثمّة مزاجٌ جماعي كما هو فردي، يميل بالشعوب إلى الحزن أو البهجة، فيجعلها ترى الأشياء في ضوءٍ مشرقٍ أو كئيب. والحقّ أنّ المجتمع وحده يستطيع أن يُصدر حكمًا جماعيًا على قيمة الحياة الإنسانية؛ أمّا الفرد فغير مؤهَّل لذلك.
