أمّا الكلام المفكَّك المتناثر، فقد عدّه الأمم الوثنية نوعاً من النبوءة، لأن كهنة وحيهم، وقد أسكرتهم روح أو بخار من مغارة وحي دلفي الإغريقي، كانوا يهذون حيناً هذيان المجانين؛ وكان في كلامهم المبعثر ما يمكن أن يُلائم أيّ حادث، على نحو ما يُقال إن كل الأجسام مكوّنة من المادة الأولى.
