لا يتيح النماء الامتلاءَ الصحيّ والحيويّة وحدهما، بل يتيح أيضًا فيضًا مُنذِرًا بالشرّ، وشذوذًا، وتشوّهًا... وهذا الخطر متأصّل في طبيعة النمو والحياة. فقد ينقلب النمو إلى إفراطٍ في النمو، وتنقلب الحياة إلى «فرطِ حياة»... ومن مفارقات المرض وحِيَله وسخرياته أن يبدو في صورة العافية، بإحساسٍ رائعٍ بالصحة والرفاه، ولا يكشف عن أخطاره الخبيثة إلا لاحقًا.
