يقول الاقتصاديون السياسيون إن العمل هو مصدر كل ثروة. وهو حقاً مصدرها، إلى جانب الطبيعة التي تزوده بالمادة التي يحوّلها إلى ثروة. لكنه أكثر من ذلك بلا حدود؛ إنه الشرط الأساسي الأول لكل وجود إنساني، إلى حدّ أنه يجوز القول بمعنى ما إن العمل هو الذي خلق الإنسان نفسه.
