كانت صورة الشتاء خيطَ أريادنة الذي أهتدي به، لا لأنها ستساعدني على اكتشاف سرٍّ ما (وحش أو كنز)، بل لأنها ستُبيّن لي ما الذي شكّل ذلك الخيط الذي جذبني نحو التصوير الفوتوغرافي. لقد أدركتُ أنه ينبغي عليّ من الآن فصاعداً أن أستجوب أدلّة التصوير الفوتوغرافي، لا من زاوية المتعة، بل فيما يتصل بما نسميه، بشيء من الرومانسية، الحبَّ والموت.
