لو صغّرنا سحرياً وأدخلنا في دماغ أحدهم وهو يفكّر، لرأينا المضخّات والمكابس والتروس والروافع تعمل بلا توقف، ولاستطعنا أن نصف سير العمل وصفاً كاملاً بلغة ميكانيكية، فنصف بذلك عمليات التفكير في الدماغ وصفاً تاماً. غير أن هذا الوصف لن يتضمّن ذكراً واحداً للفكر! لن يحوي إلا وصفاً للمضخّات والمكابس والروافع.
