الجمال يخاطب البصر في المقام الأول، لكن للسمع جمالاً أيضاً، كما في تآلف بعض الكلمات وفي شتى أنواع الموسيقى؛ فالألحان والنغمات المتدرجة جميلة. والعقول التي ترتقي فوق عالم الحس إلى نظام أعلى تدرك الجمال في سلوك الحياة، وفي الأفعال، وفي الخُلق، وفي مساعي العقل؛ وثمة جمال الفضائل أيضاً.
