دروس التسامح الديني، ذلك التسامح الذي يُقرّ بالحرية التامة للفكر الإنساني وحرية الضمير، هي دروس لا بدّ أن تُغرس في قلوب الأمريكيين جميعًا وعقولهم بالقول والقدوة، إن أردنا لمؤسسات ديمقراطيتنا أن تبقى وتدوم. يجب أن نُقرّ بالحقوق الأساسية للإنسان. ولا حياة وطنية حقيقية في ديمقراطيتنا ما لم نعترف اعترافًا كاملًا بحرية العبادة وحرية التعليم.
