تنتمي الصورة الفوتوغرافية إلى فئة الأشياء المُطبَّقة، التي لا يمكن فصل ورقتيها دون أن يتلف كلاهما: زجاج النافذة والمنظر الطبيعي، ولمَ لا: الخير والشر، والرغبة وموضوعها؛ ثنائيات نستطيع تصوّرها لكن لا نستطيع إدراكها بالحواس... وأياً كان ما تمنحه للرؤية، وأياً كانت طريقتها، فالصورة الفوتوغرافية غير مرئية دائماً: فليست هي ما نراه.
