الحربُ تحرّك في قلوب الناس طينَ أسوأ غرائزهم. تمنح العنفَ قيمةً عالية، وتغذّي الكراهية، وتُطلق العنانَ للطمع. تسحق الضعفاء، وتُعلي شأن الأنذال، وتُدعّم الاستبداد. وكثيرًا ما دمّرت كلّ نظامٍ للعيش، وأهلكت الأمل، وقتلت الأنبياء.
