إن كنّا لا نستطيع التفكير بأنفسنا، وإن كنّا نأبى مساءلة السلطة، فنحن مجرّد طينٍ مطواعٍ في أيدي أصحاب النفوذ. أما إذا كان المواطنون متعلّمين ويكوّنون آراءهم بأنفسهم، فإن أصحاب النفوذ يعملون لصالحنا. ينبغي في كل بلد أن نعلّم أبناءنا المنهج العلمي وأسباب وجود وثيقة الحقوق. ومع ذلك يأتي نوعٌ من الحشمة والتواضع وروح الجماعة. وفي عالم تسكنه الشياطين، الذي نعيش فيه بحكم كوننا بشرًا، قد يكون هذا كل ما يقف بيننا وبين الظلام الذي يطبق علينا.
