الأمل ليس تفاؤلًا أعمى، ولا هو تجاهلٌ لضخامة المهمة أمامنا أو للعقبات التي تعترض طريقنا. وليس قعودًا على الهامش ولا تهرّبًا من المعركة. الأمل هو ذلك الشيء الكامن فينا، الذي يصرّ، رغم كل الأدلة على العكس، على أنّ ثمة ما هو أفضل ينتظرنا إن امتلكنا الشجاعة لبلوغه، والعمل من أجله، والقتال في سبيله. الأمل هو الإيمان بأنّ المصير لن يُكتب لنا، بل سنكتبه نحن، بأيدي الرجال والنساء الذين لا يرضون بالعالم كما هو، ولديهم الشجاعة لإعادة صنعه كما ينبغي أن يكون.
