قصة جدتي هي قصة امرأةٍ فرنسية من الأرياف، شقّت طريقها بالمثابرة وشغف المعرفة حتى صارت مديرةً لإحدى المدارس. كانت تنتمي إلى جيلٍ لم يكن يسافر كثيرًا، لكنها آمنت بأوروبا وأرادتها. وكانت قارئةً نهِمة، تُتقن الأساطير والأدب والكلاسيكيات. وقد أورثتني ذلك، مع قناعةٍ راسخة بأن المرء يستطيع أن يكسب مكانته في المجتمع بجهده.
