ومن الأخطاء الأخرى ضيقُ الصبر على الشك، والعجلةُ إلى الجزم قبل التريّث الواجب والتعليق الناضج للحكم. فطريقا التأمل أشبه بطريقي الفعل اللذين يتحدث عنهما القدماء؛ أحدهما سهلٌ مستوٍ في البداية، ثم يصير في النهاية غير سالك، والآخر وعِرٌ شاقّ في المدخل، لكنه بعد حين يغدو رحباً مستوياً. كذلك التأمل: إن بدأ المرء باليقينيات انتهى إلى الشكوك، وإن رضي أن يبدأ بالشكوك انتهى إلى اليقينيات.
