كان إرازموس نورَ عصره، وكان غيره قوّته؛ أضاء الطريق، وعرف غيره كيف يسير فيه، بينما بقي هو في الظل كما يبقى مصدرُ النور دائماً. لكنّ من يشير إلى طريق عصرٍ جديد لا يقلّ استحقاقاً للإجلال عمّن يكون أول من يدخله؛ فالذين يعملون في الخفاء أنجزوا هم أيضاً عملاً عظيماً.
