لا يحدث شيء في الطبيعة يمكن أن يُعزى إلى خلل فيها؛ فالطبيعة واحدةٌ دائمًا، وهي ذاتها في فعلها وقدرتها على التأثير في كل مكان. أي إن قوانين الطبيعة وأحكامها، التي بها تحدث الأشياء وتتحوّل من صورة إلى أخرى، هي نفسها في كل مكان وزمان، فيكون منهجٌ واحد لفهم طبيعة جميع الأشياء، وهو عبر قوانين الطبيعة الكلية وقواعدها.
